Privacy policy

Updated 24 May 2026

1. Introduction

Dewwie (ABN 50 577 957 384) operates dewwie.com and any associated applications and services (collectively, the Services). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy explains what personal information we collect and why, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access or correct it. By using our Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

For questions about this policy, contact hello@dewwie.com.

2. Personal information we collect

What you provide directly

We collect the personal information you give us when you join the waitlist or create an account, use Ask dewwie or complete a skin profile, subscribe to emails, contact us, or take part in research. This may include your name and email address, along with information about your skin, health, lifestyle, and products.

What we collect automatically

When you use our Services, we may automatically collect information about your device and browser, your IP address and approximate location, and how you use the Services. This includes pages viewed and features used. We may also collect information through cookies and similar technologies, as explained in section 7.

Sensitive information

Information about your skin conditions, medications, allergies, or related health history may be sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect it to provide the features you choose, with your consent. We will not use or disclose it for another purpose without your consent unless the law permits or requires it.

Photos

Photos are optional. Where a feature uses them, we collect three kinds: skin photos you save to your own log, product photos you use to add an item to your shelf, and images of a product label used to identify a product or read its ingredients. Each is collected for the purpose shown in the app at the time. Skin photos may be sensitive information, and the paragraph above applies to them.

3. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the dewwie Services.
  • Personalise skincare guidance using your profile and history.
  • Respond to questions and support requests.
  • Send service notifications and product updates.
  • Send marketing emails where you have opted in.
  • Conduct research and analytics.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Detect and prevent fraud or security issues.

We will not use your personal information for a secondary purpose unless that purpose is directly related to the primary purpose, or you have consented.

4. Legal basis and consent

We collect and use personal information where it is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, with your consent where required, or where the law requires or authorises it. When we ask for sensitive information to provide personalised guidance, we will explain how we intend to use it.

You can withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting hello@dewwie.com. We may still send service-related messages.

5. Disclosure of personal information

Third-party service providers

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate the Services, including providers of cloud hosting, AI services, analytics, communications, and payment processing.

When you use Ask dewwie, we send Anthropic your question and information relevant to answering it. This may include details from your saved profile, routine, or previous conversations. Anthropic processes that information to generate a response.

When you send us a message through the contact form on dewwie.com, that form is handled by Web3Forms, which delivers the message to our email address and keeps a copy for the period set in our account. You can email us directly instead, using the address insection 14, if you would rather your message did not pass through that service.

Our podcast episodes are hosted on YouTube. The page shows a still picture of the episode and loads nothing from YouTube until you press play. If you do, YouTube receives the request and handles it under Google’s own privacy policy. You can watch an episode on YouTube directly instead, or not at all, and the rest of the site works the same.

The information a provider receives depends on the feature you use. We limit the information shared to what is needed for that service and remain responsible for how we handle your personal information.

Under Anthropic’s published standard terms for its commercial API, it deletes inputs and responses from its backend within 30 days. It may retain them longer for certain features, to enforce its usage policy, or where the law requires it. Anthropic says it does not use commercial API inputs and responses to train its models by default; it may do so if a customer chooses to allow it or explicitly submits feedback.

Other disclosures

We may also disclose personal information where the law requires or authorises it, to protect the rights or safety of dewwie and others, or with your explicit consent. We may disclose information as part of a business transaction, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to confidentiality obligations. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Overseas disclosures

Some of our service providers are located outside Australia. Anthropic, which processes Ask dewwie questions, is in the United States, and our cloud hosting and email providers may also hold information there. Web3Forms, which handles messages sent through our contact form, also processes and stores them outside Australia. Google, which serves a podcast episode when you press play, is in the United States. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our safeguards include limiting access to personal information to people and service providers who need it to do their work.

No method of storing or sending information is completely secure. If we suspect a data breach, we will assess it and take steps to contain it. Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies, we will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and affected individuals when required by law.

7. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies where a part of the Services needs them to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering a setting you have chosen. We will describe any analytics or measurement tool here before we start using one, along with whether it sets a cookie. We do not use cookies for advertising.

Pressing play on a podcast episode loads a video player from YouTube, which may set its own storage in your browser at that point. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play, so this does not happen unless you choose it. See section 5.

You can control cookies in your browser settings, although disabling some may affect how the Services work.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may keep your saved profile, routine, chat history, and any photos you have saved, to support ongoing personalised guidance. This is separate from the information Anthropic processes to answer a question, described in section 5. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. See section 10.

9. Dealing with us anonymously

You can browse dewwie.com without telling us who you are. Some things need an identity to work: an account, the waitlist, personalised guidance, and a support request we have to reply to. Where a feature does not need your name, you do not have to give it.

10. Your rights and choices

Under the Privacy Act, you can:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal requirements.
  • Withdraw consent to marketing communications.
  • Complain about how we have handled your information.

Contact hello@dewwie.com to make a request. We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity. We do not charge a fee for access requests.

11. Children’s privacy

dewwie is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected it inadvertently, email hello@dewwie.com and we will delete it promptly.

12. Health information and medical advice

Dewwie provides general skincare guidance informed by expert contributors. Nothing provided through our Services constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We encourage you to consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concerns.

We use health information to provide the features you choose, as described insection 3, and disclose it only as described insection 5. We do not disclose it to anyone for diagnosis or treatment, and we do not sell it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or a prominent notice in the Services. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact and complaints

Contact hello@dewwie.com with a privacy question or complaint.

We will acknowledge privacy complaints within five business days and aim to resolve them within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Clear skincare guidance that starts with your skin and the products you already use.
